Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore says it is still too easy for people to send racist messages online after being on the receiving end this weekend.
The Owls manager was racially abused after his side lost their Sky Bet League One play-off semi-final first leg 4-0 at Peterborough last Friday night, with Owls chairman Dejphon Chansiri also the subject of vile messages.
Wednesday have banned the individual responsible for Moore’s abuse while also involving the police and are carrying out the same process with Chansiri’s abuser.
DM (On abuse) Thank you so much for the overwhelming support that I ve had.
The authorities have got everything in hand. We re doing all we can to eradicate abuse where we can.
We re doing good work to shut this dow…
Pep Guardiola was left to rue injuries to Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva after Manchester City returned to Champions League action with a 3-1 win at FC Copenhagen on Tuesday.
Grealish, handed his first start in six matches, lasted just 21 minutes of the holders’ largely straightforward last-16 first-leg success at Parken Stadium before being forced off with a groin injury.
Silva, who put City into a 2-1 lead just before the break with a fine flicked finish, took a knock to the ankle late in the game.
The double blow comes after Josko Gvardiol missed the game with an ankle injury and Mateo Kovacic was also unavailable.
City manager Guardiola said: “It’s something muscular with Jack, his groin.
“He felt it on the grass, started to complain…
Shanghai Shenhua have completed the signing of former Chelsea striker Demba Ba.
The Chinese Super League side signed Mali international Mohamed Sissoko on Thursday and have now followed that up by swooping for Ba, who had been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League with West Brom.
Ba joins after spending just one season with Besiktas in Turkey, following his exit from Stamford Bridge in July last year.
The Senegal international scored 27 goals in 44 appearances for the Turkish Super Lig club and will look to have a similar impact for a Shenhua team struggling in the CSL.
Shenhua are 11 in the league ahead of Sunday s clash with rock-bottom city rivals Shanghai Shenxin, with just five wins from their first 15 games.

Belgian Pro League outfit Genk have parted company with manager Mario Been following a poor run of form.
A 2-0 defeat at home to lowly Waasland-Beveren on Sunday proved to be the final straw, with that reverse marking an eighth loss in Genk s last 10 league games.
That result left the 2011 title winners in sixth position, and they are in danger of slipping out of the play-off spots that decide the Belgian champions.
A statement on the club s website read: After the defeat at home to Waasland-Beveren on Sunday evening it was clear that the much needed turnaround in the results of the Jupiler Pro League has been absent for too long.
Genk wishes to thank Mario Been for the many successes. An appointment of a new coach will be made as soon as possible.

Reading have announced the departure of manager Jose Gomes after 10 months in charge following a run of seven matches without a win in all competitions.
The Royals have lost five of their past six Championship matches and are 22nd in the table, just three points off the bottom.
Gomes, who arrived at Madejski Stadium from Portuguese outfit Rio Ave in December 2018, stabilised the club in 2018-19 but could only steer them to 20th place at the end of the campaign.
This season, despite being bolstered by the signings of George Puscas from Inter and Lucas Joao from Sheffield Wednesday, strengthening Gomes attacking options, Reading have taken just eight points from 11 games.

Real Betis are watching the situation of Carles Alena at Barcelona with much interest, according to Marca.
The 21-year-old is no longer registered for Barcelona B and can therefore play only for the first team, which was apparently a big gamble on his part. At this point in his career, the midfielder needs game-time to develop properly, but he isn t getting any at the moment. He started the season as a member of the starting XI away to Athletic Bilbao after making 27 appearances in all competitions in 2018/19, but he hasn t played at all since that day. He was planned for a more prominent role, but Ivan Rakitic remaining at the Camp Nou changed things to his dismay.
The situation seems to have caused Alena to start thinking his future over with the January transfer wind…
Erling Haaland is a machine who has banished any doubts over his abilities during his extraordinary debut season with Manchester City, says former Manchester United winger Nani.
Haaland has led City to the brink of a treble in his first campaign since arriving from Borussia Dortmund, with Pep Guardiola s men retaining their Premier League title and reaching the finals of the FA Cup and Champions League.
The striker has hit an astonishing 52 goals in as many appearances this term, at least 12 more than any other player from Europe s top five leagues (Kylian Mbappe is second with 40).
Thirty-six of those efforts have come in the Premier League, with Haaland breaking Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole s shared record of 34 goals in a single campaign in the competition –…
´Playing in Europe is always great´ – Arteta relishing Europa League challenge despite Champions Lea
Mikel Arteta said Arsenal will not take participating in the Europa League for granted ahead of Thursday s tie with Bodo/Glimt, but acknowledges the Gunners have loftier ambitions.
Arsenal sit top of the Premier League table after a scintillating start to the season; only twice have they bettered this campaign s return of 21 points after eight games in the competition, earning 22 points in 2004-05 and 2007-08.
Having missed out to Tottenham in a fierce battle for Champions League qualification last term, however, Arsenal are competing with Bodo/Glimt, PSV and FC Zurich in Group A of Europe s second-tier competition.
While Arteta knows Champions League football must be the aim for his team, he said Arsenal will make the most of their continental campaign.

Greece coach Fernando Santos wants to extend his deal with the national team after securing their place at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The Portuguese, who undertook the role in 2010 following the departure of Otto Rehhagel, has lost just four of his 41 matches in charge and led his side to next year s tournament in Brazil with a 4-2 aggregate play-off triumph over Romania.
Santos contract is due to expire before the finals, but he is keen to continue his good work after Greece achieved back-to-back World Cup qualifications for the first time.
We are in Brazil and we are pleased, he said after the second-leg draw in Bucharest. I said that, at the right time, we would speak of renewal.
Now I can say let s sit down , then we ll make the decision for the good of all.
Oliver Bierhoff says the DFB are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to give Germany the best preparation for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Joachim Low s side will head to Brazil next year as one of the favourites to lift the trophy, having come through the UEFA qualification campaign unbeaten.
They have been drawn in Group G alongside Ghana, Portugal and the United States at the finals the latter coached by former boss and Germany international Jurgen Klinsmann.
And as the DFB announced their base for the tournament on Friday, team manager Bierhoff insisted that every possible angle is being covered in an attempt to help them to success.
Low s men will stay at the purpose-built Campo Bahia, some 30 kilometres north of Porto Seguro.
Despite reports to the con…
